splitting mkv file

I am attempting to open an .mkv file in virtualdubmod but i get an error message:

"Only handle [S_Text/] subs for the moment"

I was wondering if i could remove the sub file outside of virtualdub and then open it or if there is another program similar to virtualdub.

MKVtoolnix should be able to do it. Here's the link:

If you're familiar with the AVI-Mux program, the interface is somewhat similar to that.
