Importing Windows Premiere Project into Final Cut Express?

Post by Pipian » Thu Sep 09, 2004 11:10 am

Is this possible? Given that I'm currently working with a copy of Premiere on Windows but planning on getting a high-end Powerbook with a legit copy of FCE (yay student discounts) in the near future to actually do the final mastering of some incomplete projects of mine, I need to know if I'll be able to import the currently existing premiere projects into FCE on the Mac...

Has anyone had any experience with this?

I suppose you could export each little clip as DV and import them into FCE and piece it back together (or export as one large clip and import it and butcher it up) ... but that doesn't sound too practical. You might want to experiment with Premiere's export options and see if there's one that will work between Premiere and FCE.

Just a little note, if you prefer not to work in DV format, I would save up a few more hundred dollars on Final Cut Pro. Final Cut Express only works on DV footage, like iMovie. Non-DV footage will have to be converted to DV in order to be used in FCE ... at least from what I heard.

Hope that helps.
Yeah ... I use a Mac ... it works and I like it.
