Question about AVI Codec

Post by RamzaBeoulve259 » Thu Oct 07, 2004 5:25 pm

Ok I just reformatted my computer, and now my Adobe can't import an AVI video, and my EO Video converter can't convert an AVI because I think I need a good AVI Codec. Anyone here knows where I can get one?

This goes in software help. And as far as importing .avi into Premiere, I've only done it through avisynth. It's really easy to do, and I suggest taking a look at this guide.

You don't need "a good" AVI codec, you need whatever AVI codec was used for the video you're trying to play convert.

With that said:

1) Get <a href="http://www.neuron2.net/www.math.berkele ... HuffYUV</a>
2) Get an MJPEG codec like <a href="ftp://ftp2.pegasusimaging.com/picvideo/ ... Video's</a>
3) Get <a href="http://www.koepi.org/">XviD</a>
4) Get <a href="http://athos.leffe.dnsalias.com/">ffdshow</a>

That should cover just about everything you need...

Can you also not play some video types? try the Nimo Codec pack i haven't needed more than 2 other codecs to play/encode stuff after installing this. just google it for the site, i'm too lazy to at the moment. Otherwise what Scintilla said should work.

i have the tsunami filter pack (small version) installed, i didn't get any spyware or unnecessary stuff with it...other than that i have xvid, ffdshow, huffyuv (yuvrenderfix as well), and the Helix codecs that come with the new amvapp. I can play every file i've run into so far..

One more question

Post by RamzaBeoulve259 » Thu Oct 07, 2004 8:31 pm

Ok thanks for your help guys.

Also, one more question. When I tried to export my music video after I reformatted, the audio came out perfect, but the video was totally blank. Could it be because I either used my original movie file to make it, and the file was too big, or is it because I reformatted?

I resent that. not all codec packs are evil. I have had no problems with Nimo, just as long as you get the stable build and not the experimental one it works fine.

some codecs are good. the problems come when you get like... 80 codecs on one computer. then you get trouble, ESPECIALLY with microsoft programs. microsoft programs don't play well with others.
