Premiere 6.5 Audio, Exporting and Generalness

I must apologise in advance as this is probably already in a thread but I have searched before the insults start and I can't find anything like it. I have a list of problems and questions so here goes:

1. When I import a video with audio into Premiere 6.5 there is a slight lag with the video being about 0.5 seconds behind the audio. Yet when I export the file there is no lag, why?

2. Not really a problem just a wondering, when I choose to export timeline - movie, there is no audio. Is this meant to happen because when I choose the Adobe MPEG Encoder the audio is back? Just wanted to check to see if this is serious or whether its meant to just export the video.

3. This isn't a problem at all but probably a wonder that other people may have ... errrrrrr... wondered. Is there anyway to change the colour scheme of Premiere instead of that horrible standard grey?

Please help as I'm looking for a laptop to edit and make AMV's on and if I can't fix these problems in Premiere I don't see much point in buying a top of the line laptop that can handle video editing.

1. Could be a number of things. Maybe your pc is too slow to play it back in realtime. Does the audio line up correctly when you scrub the timeline? Perhaps you are using a codec with interframe compression, such as divx, this is a big no-no.

2. When you export, there is a box or something that you have to check to make it export audio too... i think.

3. No. Premiere Pro lets you adjust the brightness of the color scheme though, between light gray and dark gray.

Thanx for that, it doesn't line up when i scrub it so i don't think its me PC. It's most likely this DivX Codec cause i did download DivX Player and its codec, so how would i turn that off? And where do i adjust the brightness of the grey? I like the idea of dark grey for some reason.

Doesn't matter now about the Codec, I changed it from DV Playback to Video for Windows playback which has drastically improved it. I'd still very much like to know how to change the greyness though and whether what I changed was actually right

You were right to change the settings from DV to VFW, but you still shouldn't be editing with DivX clips, for a number of reasons. Convert them to HuffYUV.

If only i knew how and what that was

. I tend to just find my clips on the internet and use whatever format they are in, seems to work fine. Considering I'm gonna be takin a Degree in New Media Design and Technology I guess I really should learn about all these weird formats.

yeah, you should, i'm not taking a degree in anything and apparently i already know more than you.

I'm surprised scintilla hasn't done this already but look, and read thoroughly, through the guides: Guides main page

for more detiailed help with codecs, colour spaces and everything technical about prepping/exporting/encoding video, you'll want to Read <a href=http://www.a-m-v.org/guides/avtech31/>ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides</a> for the old version, or READBAG for the newer, but as yet incomplete beta version, depending on how new you like your info.

make sure you Read <a href=http://www.a-m-v.org/guides/avtech31/>ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides</a>/READBAG thoroughly as it will help more than you can ever know.
