3dNow! is not SSE.roguebfl wrote:If none has a known work to get Premier to think 3dNow! is SSE

Re: Help getting started with some software
3DNow and SSE are "instructions" which have bein hardcoded onto a cpu. But I'm reasonably sure that the athlonxp had both 3DNow and SSE. So I dont see why theirs a problem with it. Mabey just some bug in premier.roguebfl wrote:If none has a known work to get Premier to think 3dNow! is SSE.

And Athlon sites list 3dNow! to be fully comptible with SSE.jbone wrote:3dNow! is not SSE.roguebfl wrote:If none has a known work to get Premier to think 3dNow! is SSE

They're full of shit. It's a complete lie. The instruction sets don't have anything in common.roguebfl wrote:And Athlon sites list 3dNow! to be fully comptible with SSE.jbone wrote:3dNow! is not SSE.roguebfl wrote:If none has a known work to get Premier to think 3dNow! is SSE

Re: Help getting started with some software
Some processors (like the Athlon XP 1800+) have an extended version of 3DNow! which, in theory, allow the processor to understand SSE instructions.jbone wrote:They're full of shit. There's multiple ways to figure out whether or not a processor can handle certain instructions, though, and some work where others fail. The most common run-time detection method -- querying the processor -- might just fail in this case. If that's what's going on, the original poster is SOL, unless s/he wants to hack the CPU. (That, or buy an Athlon that works )

The issue might be in the ECS K7S5A mothervoard bios then 8(post-it wrote:... I had the Athlon XP 1800+ when it was first released; SSE is not a problem.
The only thing that I can remember about the Athlon XP 1800+ that was unique
is it seemed about 3X faster with two RAM sticks instead of the single RAM.
SSE = yes.
3DNOW = yes.
MMX = yes.
someones toying with you!
