I've toned down the mftoon (after realizing how high I'd set it), gotten rid of FastLineDarken and the TemporalCleaner. I'm going to re-render and see how it goes......
The aspect ratio I'm using is what the http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... ecalc.html] resize calculator from the Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides guide referenced to. Does it seem odd?

I have no idea. You'll have to tell me what the source is.gunhoe86 wrote: The aspect ratio I'm using is what the resize calculator from the Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides guide referenced to. Does it seem odd?
The resize calculator can give you very good results but it requires that all of its inputs are accurate. Your values raise a red flag for me because cropping 8px off each side and resizing to 480x352 generally means that you're working with 4:3 footage. However, you're also cropping 12px off top and bottom, which seems weird.

Well, I'm using several different anime sources, so I found the largest size I had from the sources and cropped that one. This way, all the other's fit into the final size.
One question, the Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides guide calls to use Fast Recompression for the first pass, should I switch to Full Compression for the second pass?

That is usually not a good idea, as it is very easy to distort the proper aspect ratio of your sources. Are you using fansubs?gunhoe86 wrote:Well, I'm using several different anime sources, so I found the largest size I had from the sources and cropped that one. Is your second pass bigger with audio or without?

I noticed, that didn't work very well at all. That is usually not a good idea, as it is very easy to distort the proper aspect ratio of your sources. Are you using fansubs?
Both my first pass and second are with audio, since I'm using VDM. Is there a way to compress without the audio?
I don't know what fansubs are. I did rip these myself using Dazzle from my own dvds............

It doesn't really hurt compressibility but it can be a major distraction.gunhoe86 wrote:I noticed, that didn't work very well at all. That is usually not a good idea, as it is very easy to distort the proper aspect ratio of your sources. Are you using fansubs?
Disable the audio stream for the first pass in the Streams dialog. Both my first pass and second are with audio, since I'm using VDM. Is there a way to compress without the audio?
