Codecs and premiere and computers

Post by Tocomanconqueso » Wed Jun 01, 2005 2:51 pm

You'll all hate me for this one, because it seems like it would be a comon problem.

I'm playing with premiere pro, i was playing with premiere 6, i'm having the same problem. (My english is a little bit rusty, so stick with me.) Whenever i import a video, pro dies. It might be the codec, i go in and change around that, still it dies. I'm in the process of changing to a third codec, praying its just that.

My computer is fairly new, so i didn't think that memory would be a problem, but it seems it may be the case.

Also, when pro shuts down, only the program locks up, nothing else.

I tried shutting down all the programs from start up, then running pro, and it still failed.
Any ideas?

Sounds like you are trying to edit with DivX or XviD files. That doesn't work very well, nor is it something changine the 4CC will fix. You need to transcode to something lossless, HuffYUV being a favorite hereabouts.

Yes. Only take the clips you need, don't convert entire episodes.
