why are you using an unstable codec?

Post by Scioneer » Sat May 28, 2005 11:44 pm

Why is Divx so popular? Its the most unstable, bug ridden codec out there. I'm having to give bad reviews when a Divx vid freezes and then crashes Windows Movie Maker when i try to remaster it as a wmv. Lets try to find a better codec so all the work put into these videos can be appreciated.

It's your player that's unstable, not our codec. Uninstall whatever Gordian Knot bullshit you have set up and install koepi's XviD build or ffdshow and it should play fine.

i love that you HAVE to give bad reviews because your computer gives you the codec error... so someone gets a low score because you cant properly install a codec, good job, your making decent/good videos have low crappy scores because your an idiot.. your the kind of person that should be banned for stupidity... do me a favor, burn in hell.

You should ask yourself "why am I using an unstable codec?" :?

Scioneer, the real question here is why are you trying to remaster other people's videos (if remastering is a term one can apply to converting to WMV in the first place) when clearly it isn't changing the fact you still write opinions based on the DivX versions? Either there's something you're not telling us, or you're just a glutton for punishment. Either way, ou have no sympathy from me.

In Scioneer's defense, DivX is unstable. That's a fact. It a lot better than it was years ago, but it isn't a venerable codec with lots of stabilizing revisions. There just isn't anything better, so we use what we use. I use koepi's XviD and encode in it, but one of these days someone will make something better.

i think they either ment reconvert it... which is stupid to do to WMV... or use it in their own video, to steal the clips... which is wrong... and should be done by no one but the King of Spayn...

either way, drop dead..

i refuse to be as harsh as the rest so just rea dmy post in stead. Avis are better quality than a wmv for one

and mpeg4 is higher quality than an avi, smaller the file, worse it is to view/listen to.

I'll defend you for the sake of argument. You redo it so you can view it, not steal it

windows movie maker corrupts if you have an inferior video card, heck every windows system comes with it, but it is never advertised and is always hidden in the folders. You have to run a search to get it. Even microsoft knows it sucks. Not that i blame ya for trying to get a cheap alternative, ya get what ya pay for in this case.

Yeah, try out cor emedia player or divx and downloade the updated codecs. Window media player is not as good as those, but i agree, i have probs with vids on all players in a variety of errors and ways. Tis why i have a handful of programs handy to back me up ^^
