Stretched footage/messed up audio

Ok I'm making a video using game footage and I'm having a couple of problems. And yes, I've read the guides.

1) When I ripped the movies (using PsxMC) I thought it looked fine but then I compared it with other videos with the same footage and mine seems like it was stretched out a bit horizontally and had the excess pixels chopped off. I thought maybe I did something wrong in my avisynth script but the .str files look like that too...does it have something to do with my PsxMC settings or what?

and 2) When I'm editing in Premiere 6.0 the audio keeps getting corrupted or something. Like, it'll import fine but then parts start jumping and I'm not sure why. I tried adjusting the audio settings and importing again but it isn't long before the same thing happens. Does it have something to do with the framerate? Because I'm editing at 15 fps (same as the original source).

I'm pretty new to Premiere and I'm doing ok with the actual editing but my help menu doesn't seem to work (it's all grayed out) and I have yet to find any helpful tutorials. So if anyone can help me out with these two things, I would really appreciate it!

What format? Your best bet is to used uncompressed audio in a WAV (or AIFF) file. Specifically, video editors generally don't play very nicely with MP3s.

Yeah it's mp3 but do you know why it does that? I don't want to avoid using mp3s for the rest of my video editing career....

I admit I don't know exactly why it does that, but it's easy to convert an MP3 to PCM WAV and then use that instead. Besides, uncompressed formats ease the load on the processor when you're trying to play back your timeline.

Ok I tried using a wav and it seems to be working fine now, thanks! Just wish I knew why Premiere is wierd about mp3s. Ah well.

Does anyone know what's up with my footage or is it a lost cause? I was thinking maybe the pc version looks different. I know the video quality is higher but I don't know about the resolution...

it probably has something to do premiere trying to do the following:
1. play your video file
2. read the effects you're adding
3. blending the images you have together to form your desired image
4. decyphering and reconstructing the wave format from the compressed mp3 file

so basically, it's putting a lot of demand on your processor/program at any one time, so although the WAV and lossless video files are hella large, they play easier (as there is less 'figuring out' your computer will have to do).

but then again, I just may be talking out of my ass too...
