software recommendation? similiar to Windows Movie Maker?

I like the windows movie maker, i just hate how it breaks each file into gazillion chunks first.

any recommendations that will do similiar, for windows, and especially keep the timeline?

Video Edit Magic ( NOT MAGIX!) - 8,5 mb,very easy navigation,but,it's not free.
But,if you op some of my videos,a can send u my registration key :)

Hint, unless you are looking to be banned, dont post stuff like that.

The most-like-WMM-as-far-as-ease-goes is the PowerDirector series. I personally am using PD4 for my new video, and it works like a charm. A free demo is available.

When you import a file, have you tried unchecking the box that says "Create clips for video files"?

eh...my name suits me, but anyway i just tried that, and it still takes the same amount of time to import the video, prob due to my 512 RAM i know, but seems to take longer than i recall when playing with some other video programs
