RM plug-in/bundle thing for Windows Media Player...

Post by Xyex » Tue Dec 20, 2005 10:27 am

I remember (quite some time ago) someone had linked to a plug-in/bundle thing that allowed me to play RM files in WMP. I'm trying to find it again but I can't find the thread... Anyone know what I'm talking about?

It's called Real Alternative.

Alternately, if you actually have RealPlayer installed, it could be Gabest's RealMedia Splitter, which you can get by itself off SourceForge or as part of the Matroska Full Pack.

After having done a little more detective work I've figured out what it was that I had before, I believe. It was rmdshow, Tab had first posted it way back in July of 03. However, the link for it in the thread no longer works. Anyone know where to find it or have a lin to something similar?

It seems that the rmdshow that Tab posted was Gabest's RealMedia Splitter. The other link (which is Real Alternative, what badmartialarts posted) provided the download for the RealMedia codecs themselves. Since you said the link's down, here are the links to just the splitter, as Real Alternative is common enough that a simple search will bring it up. If you have RealPlayer installed, though, you won't need the codecs, since you already have them.

Here's the splitter:

Or, alternatively, the Matroska Playback Pack, which installs the RealMedia splitter for you as part of the package:
