ok, i downloaded this avi. movie and vegas SHOULD except it, it does with other avi movies but it wont with this one =( i tried everything! i put it through Vdub to get rid of the audio and see if was the audio format it wouldent except but i was wrong...now vegas wont even read it...nothing pops up either it dosent say ''cannot except filr'' it just dosent let me put it on the timeline....help me plzzz if you can =(

but it exepted avi files before..=( it just dosent except this one for some reason..

Yes but were those other avi files divx or xvid?

It's not AVI that's the problem, its the encoding.

open it up in vdub (/mod) and re-encode with huffy or lagarith. (assuming that you have the space)

this next part is just me being nit-picky. the word that you want to use is accept, not except.

For some reason this happens in vegas 6, works fine in 5 though, to work around it you can do this:
Change the 4CC codes in the AVI file header to:
Description code - DiVX3
FourCC code used - DiVX
for both xvid and divx encoded files.

or you can reencode to a non divx/xvid codec.
