I'm printing out your post now. I'll only have time to look into this tomorrow.

Yeah, it was a little harsh in the beginning but I deserve it for all the trouble I'm giving all you guys. Anyways, just to make it clear that I'm not ignoring what you said: I continued to use the AVI after you said not to only for comparison because the mp4 still refused to open. I understand that I shouldn't do it for editing purposes.

No, you didn't.
Yes I did. Please don't call me a liar.

Thanks a lot for your help, I really hope this works. If it doesn't I'll come complain again and if it does I'll come thank everyone again. So, see you tomorrow.

It worked, it worked *dancing around* woot!

Thanks a lot to everyone who helped me!!

one final question, though: Since I have to create a new video file anyways, is it better to do all the filtering when creating the huffyuv and import it directly into premiere, or should I create a huffyuv without any filtering, and create a script that imports and filters the huffyuv to use in premiere?

thanks again.

Since you're going to create HuffYUV files anyway, go ahead and create the files with the filtering and use the AVIs themselves. Serving scripts into Premiere with filters enabled will slow down the processing.

For the absolute fastest performance, HuffYUV's RGB mode flies, but it takes up the most space, so I'd recommend a large HDD to store them on.

thanks a lot. I only have 80 GB but since I only need the mp4s for a specific part of the video I can export that section in huffyuv after it's done and delete the eps. Thank you to everyone who helped!!!
