Missing Audio with Converted VOB files
Okay, okay. So I'm used to taking a DVD, ripping chapters using 0SEx which makes .VOB files. Then I convert them to .mov with DivA. This is the first time I've ever ripped a VOB file (that has working audio), converted it, and then found the audio missing. I've tried using another converter program, converting to .mp4, and the audio disappeared as well.

Whatever it works for me, but as I said I don't use the audio from dvd's and have only used it from a game once, so getting the audio to work the way you want it may be different, I have been doing this alot longer than I have known about this site, and my videos work just fine, so I must know a thing or two.

There should be an option that keeps the audio when you convert to VOBs to a MOV file in DivA. I don't recommend just changing the file extension of a VOB to MPG, since VOBs can include a bunch of other stuff in them that may or may not have an impact on your editing software (subtitles, additional audio streams, etc.) Most editing soft will ignore these, but you never know...
Changing the extension for footage from a game source is different since many of the video files from games are just custom MPG files that only contain video and audio.
You may have to wait for a reply from a Mac user for a detailed post, since I use Windows and have other utilities at my disposal for footage acquisition.

Oh ho, so the plot thickens...Kionon wrote:DiVA IS ONLY FOR VIDEO.
So Mr. Jobs, is this another case of Windows doing things that Apple cannot (yet)? j/k
If you have Final Cut Pro 5 (part of Final Cut Studio) you can just drop in the VOB and edit directly.
Or you'll need to extract the audio and convert then drop it in separately.

Explain. I have FCP5 and while I certainly can drop vobs in, I am not getting audio.Willen wrote: If you have Final Cut Pro 5 (part of Final Cut Studio) you can just drop in the VOB and edit directly.
Besides, most anime (and many non anime) dvds are dual language.

Then how would someone edit their DVD camcorder footage without losing the audio? Apple has some 'splaining to do...Kionon wrote:Explain. Re: Missing Audio with Converted VOB files
Hey guyz did you know that you can take the .vob file and covert it in VdubMod to avi and it will maintain the audio of the file?RainbowFae wrote:Okay, okay.
