Software recommendation?

Post by Hikaru Yui » Sat Aug 12, 2006 9:57 pm

I realize that there is a whole topic dedicated to finding free editing software. However, being the idiot I am, I have no idea which one is too hard to use for me or not. The only editing program I've used so far is Windows Movie Maker...which if you have seen my two videos makes the screen size extremely small and ruins the quality of the video.

I can't script at all, so something where all I really need to do is push buttons and drag stuff around would be extremely nice.

Thank you in advance ^^;

Movie Maker sounds like your best bet then, especially if it's freeware you're looking for. Movie Maker is capable of high quality output videos, so perhaps you're doing something wrong. Have you tried 'Other Settings' as opposed to 'Best quality' (which is far from best to be honest)? There are other settings that you can try there. If you want even higher quality, you can try Windows Media Encoder and use Profile Editor to create a lossless WMV (which will result in a several GB file which you can compress to avi), or just create a really high quality compression profile and use it in Movie Maker. Any questions on how to do the above if I wasn't clear, feel free to ask.
