So it's 2006. What's the best editing app?

Has everyone moved to this Vegas thing? Or do the majority stick with whatever version Adobe Premiere is at?

I had tried the various versions of Adobe Premiere Pro and I hated it, so I stick with 6.5 still. I'm just wondering is that Vegas program is truly worth switching to?

You could get the Vegas trial and try it out.

Hmm yeah. I guess what I really want is some sort of comparison article that focuses primarily on the aspects that us AMV editors would use.

Like one thing, does Vegas actually support 23.976 fps natively? To my knowledge, no version of premiere has handled that frame rate properly.

I personally have still not seen reason to switch from Premiere Pro after almost 3 years (and I still say it completely kicks all earlier versions' rears), but that's just me.

And I've still not seen reason to switch from Premiere 6.x :p

Hehe. I wonder if our ties to 6.x are related to our 2001 join dates...

not really... i don't like pro for a number of reasons... mostly because it uses more resources and its pretty much more of a pain to use as it locks you out of the project settings and other things.

Yep, same here. I find Premiere Pro unbearably slow. I try to seek through the timeline, and the screen barely updates. I try to preview, and Premiere tries to play in realtime, even though its too slow to play it in realtime.

6.5 is extremely responsive, I can seek through video footage with immediate results. I preview and it shows me what I want, at full speed.

I have no idea what the programmers at Adobe could have possibly done to make it display video SO MUCH SLOWER.
