Strange WMM problem...
I have returned with a strange, uh, (for lack of a better term) "glitch" for WMM.
The glitch is whenever I try to add a video effect, MM just disappears, its not even on task manager, and there's NO error message to be seen. It just shuts off.
Has anyone ever esperienced this (no snarky remarks necessary, thanks... Your humor is already appreciated)?
Could this be due to:
Audio codec, DivX v3.x
Video codecs, 3ivX and/or DivX v3.x
Or could it be DivX Anti-Freeze?
An inquiring mind wants to know. Thanks in advance for your help, (and also for the time before).

Never use DivX/Xvid clips in WMM.
Bring them into Virtual Dub Mod and rerender as either huffyuv or lagarith. (The file will be large, but it will maintain quality)
But then again, if you plan on rendering your overall video as WMV format, I sugest trying out the codec Intel Indeo 4.5 for substantialy smaller files.
I don't know just how they behave in WMM since I haven't tried them in it. It doesn't maintain the quality perfectly, but if you just plan on rendering the video in WMV, it doesn't really matter.
If you don't have VirtualDubMod, then download this:

I have this happened to me before frequently. I;m not entirely sure what causes it, I haven't figured it out yet. Usually for me I had multiple programs running (firefox usually wmp 11 being one of them). what worked for me (so far) is I downgraded to 10 and closed rest of the programs. Afterwards it never closed on me (yet). If that doesn't work then I'm not sure what it is

If nothing else, it really screws up the picture quality. I learned that the hard way. I compared my recent AMV that has FFVII footage that was (and still is) in DivX format that I used to edit with with another AMV that just has FFVII. My footage really sucked compared to that one. Here's a small segment from one (and only) opinion on that AMV
