i was wondering wat the use is of the media manager

To confuse you, I suppose. There's really no point in using it. I just import everything from the Explorer.

Though, if you take a screenshot in Vegas, the shot will be available in the Media Manager, instead of you having to look through Explorer to find it. Something of a convenience that isn't too much more convenient, really.
