Wow, an enlightened person. Yeah, sometimes things appear useless because you don't understand what you are looking at. ErMaC and AD's guide confused many ppl and some ppl think the guide is useless cause they don't have a basic understanding of certain principals which prevent them from understanding 90% of the guide. To the slighly more enlightened reader it is a fountain of knowledge. Every time i look at it i still find something new I missed the first, second, third....5th time around. This isn't an attack on you. Many new people on the org make the same mistake. I find its a fundamental difference in the way ppl are brought up. I allways was taught to try to figure something out myself first and then when i was sure i had exhausted all my resources to then ask someone for help. Today, people want instant answers and don't think about looking somewhere else first as it is easier to just ask a question here. I am a firm believer that you learn way more when you have to figure out things for yourself rather than someone just feeding you information that you need as you won't then develop the knowledge of how to find similar information in the future or learn the reasons why things are better, or why a certain "if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
For instance, your question about rippers was covered in ErMaC's and AD's guide, which is why bum came down on you like that and i didn't bother answering your question and just made a comment to bum. I really think there needs to be some sort of tour for new members which outlines some of the resources that are on this site. That or just a sticky in each help forum listing the different guides and what they contain. Like a quick reference guide and expected behavior before posting.
