why are you using an unstable codec?

first off, i used the wrong word, and i'm not taking credit for other people's videos, simply redoing them so they'd actually run( and yes i know WMV format sucks, but at least 90% of the time they work as opposed to 40%)

koepi's XviD
installed it, it did better than most but still blew up in my face.

As for the commit about not knowing how to install a codec, yeah what ever, i geuss installing a codec on a WinXP machine is harder than installing Linux on a WinCE device. I know how to install software.

As for bad reviews, is stablity NOT AN ISSUE? How can you rate an unstable video? " Your video crashed but hey you get a 5 anyway?" Would you give a game a good rating IF IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK?

i'm not going to give a good review to a video that crashes when i play it and when i try to convert it.

anyway i geuss none of this all maters to you because i'm "Just a stupid noob"

Or how about not reviewing it becuase you cannot play it?
When ever in doubt about getting a bad review remember these words; Shut up and make it better.

it takes you 2 months to retort and 10 minutes to assume you're correct.

divx works for 99% of the people here. people aren't going to stop using it for the 1% who can't figure it out.

i don't post on these boards often, i'm begining to see why. so instead of taking in consideration what i said, you'd rather assume i'm wrong because i'm a noob.

dude, everyone else is just trying to say that DivX doesn't seem to pose the same issues for others that it does for you. also, you are the one dreging up old threads that should have been done a while ago.

if you're still having problems with DivX, then ask people for tech support, don't flame the codec. i, myself, use the codec for each of my vids, and haven't run into any issues with people telling me they can't view it properly.

We DID take into consideration what you said, and we honestly don't understand why the codecs work fine for playing back the videos for almost everyone else and not for you.

The only conclusion we can reasonably come to is that any issues of stability are on your end.

in that case i'll post my systems Specs

CPU: AMD Duron 1.2ghz
Ram: 512 mb pc133
GPU: ATI Radeon 7000, 32mb DDR Video Ram, PCI version
Sound: AC97
OS : Windows XP sp2, problems also occured before OS upgrade from WIN 98se
Media Players: koepi's XviD, Windows Media Player 10, Quicktime 6, Divx Player( came with one of the codecs)
connection: Comcast Broadband 4mb/s max, 2.5mb/s typical

if theres anything here that would cause this codec to crash, let me know

and don't say "because your system sucks". it should run on a machine with about half those specs. we're looking more at driver issues, not how up to date my system is.

this should be in the "video software help."

i honestly have no idea what any of those numbers means, and i'm guessing this is the wrong section of the forum to ask about specs like that.

i assumed you're wrong because divx works for almost everyone else. i assume you're a noob because you inferred that 10 minutes without a counterargument suggests a complete lack of a counterargument.

if xvid and ffdshow aren't working, try playing the videos with media player classic.
