well mainly just the "You should edit directly from ripped DVDs using AVIsynth" part... My editor can import the VOB files directly into it. would that be better than editing it in AVIsynth?
It avoids the extra processing overhead of going through DVD2AVI/DGIndex and AVISynth, but at the same time, it means you don't get to do any cool preprocessing with AVISynth (particularly, interlace removal or IVTC). I've never met an NLE that could take VOBs directly, so I don't have any other advice.
