Just use those wierd rectangular pixels (0.9) and you'll be fine.

That only works in premiere. On playback in WMP, AVIs can't change their ratio. only mpegs because the resize code is in the mpeg header. mpeg2s can do it on the fly in a window, and mpeg1s di it when you scale to fullscreen. AVIs don't (unless you use a modified overlay with divx5, then yeah, it'll work...kinda)

No, 0.9 pixels only compensate for 720x480 -> the square 4:3 res of 640x480. They have nothing to do with anamorphic widescreen... in fact, they'd make things worse.
