Finally! someone who reads!
imo, even if you own the footage on dvd; using downloaded footage is frowned upon.
I guess it would be kinda hard to work with dvd's if you don't have a dvd player on your computer, but those are fairly cheap (found this one on amazon)(only $35!)
if you're using a laptop then the cheapest external dvd drive I found (not on ebay) was $120 on this site
but you could also just get a kit to make the $35 drive an external one

Putting more effects on a single clip means that more information has to be rendered, so it will naturally slow down (the playback)DJ Spinz wrote:Well I'm trying out Vegas 6 and so far I really like it. Very professional. Only thing is if you put several effects on at once the video starts to lag behind the music ><; I'll have to find an easier way to do this
easiest way (but takes awhile) is to export and encode your amv every so often to check your sync.
...or you could save the effects til after you finish syncing the video

Where's Scintilla's sigline when you need it.DJ Spinz wrote:DivX 5.1. It's the same as all of the other movies that I have, but for some reason when I pull these 3 up they are horribly pixelated. And on another note, they work fine in Windows Movie maker. Just not Vegas 6.
Short answer, don't use divx/xvid encoded footage in any NLE (Non-Linear Editor). You're basically asking your computer to decode a lot of information in a very short amount of time - and when you're using a NLE, you are putting a lot of demand on your cpu and memory and any additional load can make things go buggy (like what you are reporting).
So, go here and read the guides, espeically this one (yes, it's all a bit technical, but making AMV's isn't as easy as it seems - do you need to know all of it? No, but it's a good read).
oh, btw - if you're looking for a cheaper but still powerful editor, you may want to try Magix Movie Edit Pro 10.
