other than what's already been mentioned I'd right click the project menu, go project settings -> keyframe and rendering than where it says preview 'from disk' (drop down box) click it and pick 'from RAM' it'll make regular preview MUCH smoother but if you have a LOOOONG vid 448 megs (BTW I think you have 256, 384 or 512mb... more on this later) may not be enough... it might if you don't have fx and such (and if you have alot of fx than I'd just render a portion of your vid like Alt Futures suggested). But if that is the case and you can't render portions some how you'll need a memory manager, just get wichever one downloads.com suggests.gear_freak wrote:really sorry for the lack of info.... heres some more....

what i do is use SmartRipper to rip the chapters i want.... then DVDx to turn them into AVI (cinepak codec)....
but it took about 20 mins to rip the DVD and about 8+ hours to to turn it into an AVI file.....

About the RAM, Windows 9x/ ME has trouble reading over 512mb of RAM (hell over 256megs for games...) Win9x is crap. WinXP is MUCH better and can handle up to like 4 gigs HUZZAH! The Pro version is much better than the home for 3ghz and duel processors but I doubt it's something you should worry about much.
