Download the trail versions? There's also student version in which you can get for nearly 70% off the MSRP. That's if you go to college or if there's a college in your town.

Even at the reduced cost, I still couldn't justify paying that much just to make amvs.

I don't like doing trials for programs, but I guess I could give it a shot.
