The newbie is sick of watching other's AMVs....
and wants to make her own! Two ideas have been plaguing me, and I need to get some software and make AMVs. As my birthday as coming up, the parental units have agreed to buy me something. But what?
I have good computer skills, but not withe video programs. Ulead and Adobe seem to be the best options... but I can't judge by the mixed reviews.
I don't need lots of effects, just an easy program that I can use. But timing will probably be important.
$$$ is the biggest issue. $500 for Premeire is awfully steep, and if I don't need it, I won't get it.
Thanks!

If you're looking for a program that will let you be very accurate with your timing, I wouldn't suggest using Pinnacle. The program worked out pretty well for me as a starting program and just learning how to edit, but after I got Premiere I could just do so much more. The Premiere timeline lets you zoom in so you can time your clips down to each individual frame, which Pinnacle can't do. Also, the multi-track idea that Premiere has becomes very useful, especially if you decide you want to do an effects-based video later on. Another good thing about Premiere is that you can use the avisynth plug-in and other plug-ins that aren't available for other programs. Like other Adobe programs, Premiere is confusing at first, but it's not too complicated after you practice a bit at it.
But you might want to start out with a cheaper program before you get something as expensive as Premiere, just to see if you think editing is really for you. But if you know you're going to be editing for a long time, I would suggest getting some version of Premiere first.

i think the point here is this was a beginner on a budget which is why i reccomended studio.
It has a smiliar layout and it will teach good habits before using premier..
or try freeware like ZweiStein.
