converting Windows Media files

Post by Zyfire » Thu Sep 04, 2003 8:03 pm

does anyone know a program *perferably free* or just a method as to how to change a Windows Media file to another type of file? as that type of file doesn't work in Adobe Premiere..
are simple lives only simple dreams?

Sure! I would suggest using TMPGEnc (can be found at http://www.tmpgenc.net). Make sure the file name ends with .asf (ex. CoolClip1.wmv would now be CoolClip1.asf) and it'll load in TMPGEnc. Then just create your file (MPEG-1 is more compatible, MPEG-2 better quality) and you might want to open it in VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org) and export is as a HuffyUV AVI, MJPEG AVI, or uncompressed AVI. For more info on these codecs, you might wanna run a google.com search. Best of luck on your video!
