PowerDVD Playback Problems
Since no one has elected to answer in the Audio Help forum...I ask this forum how to get my DVD-playing program back working. Basically, PowerDVD (as well as other programs) all have choppy video and sound when playing a DVD. CDs work just fine...and I'm 99% sure it's not the actual ROM itself. The video IS a bit choppy when playing...so I know it's not entirely the sound. When I change my Speaker settings to SPDIF, the video appears smooth...although now the sound is completely gone. Help, please ;.;

It sounds like your sound card is having to work overtime to decode the audio. When you choose SPDIF, the audio is passed out of the SPDIF port on your sound card if you have one and not really processed.
However, you then need an external device.
I'd try getting updated versions of the sound card drivers first and see if that helps.

Huh. It's funny you say that...because I just went and tried updating my sound card, Sound Blaster Live, and am absolutely STUMPED as to what to do next. Because when I run the updates/patches/whatnot, it gives me the following error: "No Sound Blaster soft/hardware detected."
...
Definetly have it installed....definetly have the card in the system...NOW what am I supposed to do? It certainly seems indeed that it's the card itself causing this mayhem.
