I don't know what I'm doing...

Post by atsumi » Sun Nov 23, 2003 3:47 pm

Hello! I've never made a video before, and I don't know what I'm doing. Well, I've got a pretty good idea of how to do it, there's just one problem. I've got DiVX, and you can't really get clips off of there. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good sort of "cut and paste" player... or is there even such a thing? Sorry if this is a stupid question...

Ok...first question would be:

1.)Exactly how serious are you about making AMV's? DO you have any video experience at all? Are you willing to read alot of documentation and tutorials?

2.)Are you willing to spend some money?

How you answer these 2(4) questions will determine how far you need to go and how much you will need to learn to do this. I've been editing for about 2 years now and have spent quite a bit of money on what I do. Its a hobby and a job kind of mixed.

Equipment and software isnt cheap depending on what you prefer to use. PC or Mac?

I dont want to drive you away from making amv's because they are fun to make and it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling when you show it off to people....especially if you enter a competition.

There isnt a "quick and easy" method to making a good solid amv. It takes time, blood sweat and tears. hehe...well not blood....Bawls would be the better word...I went through a case or 2 making a couple of amv's before. hehe.

use fadetoblack. thats what ive always used, and it simple for beginners. once u get the video part on fadetoblack, go to virtualdub or nandub and put in ur music. u can download it here (and heres a hint, u can download it as many times as u want!)

I'm actually on a low budget... especially now that Christmas is coming up. I do want to make videos, but it would be in my free time, and more for enjoyment than competition. I am, however, perfectly willing to read tutorials, especially if they actually help... Becuase I think some companies write tutorials to go with their programs because they think that they should, not because they're actually helping anyone... I have a PC, and I have never created a music video before, although I've got an idea as to how I put one together. I do have a pretty good amount of computer experience, though... I would live on it if I didn't have other things I have to do... anyway, thanks! And thanks for the sites aura20!
