I tried out all your great advice, and my xvid works just fine now.
However, now - not only is my divx screwed, but so are some of my other videos.
Divx is still pixilated - but some of my videos times have been messed around with. For example, a 5 min video will come up as going for 30 seconds or something...a 20 min video might come up as 3 mins, and even though the video will play through, the time line will just say 3:30, and stay put.
This makes editing very bad...especially when i opened up a project I was working on and suddenly a lot of my videos have disappeared or been halved...
Please...help me out again! I don't know why divx wants to kill me! Everything was fine until i got windows XP.
Codec problems strike again...

also, try running your divx files through divx doctor, it tends to clean them up and make everything work and open nicely
