Video Compression in Premiere

Post by lordsofchaos0000 » Tue Jun 08, 2004 2:02 pm

People have been telling me I need to select a different Compressor in Premiere when I begin a new project. I do not know how to do this, i believe I see where to do this, but its non-selectable...

You might wanna include a little more information with your posts, or u won't exactly get any replies =P. What compressor were u using in the first place? And what compressor were u told to choose? And do u even have the codec to begin with?

Make sure you've selected "Custom" on the sidebar and not one of the presets. That might be it.

to change it while in a project, go to:

Project>Project Settings>General/Video

Depending on what you choose for a compressor in General, you'll get different results in Video.

For instance, if you choose DV Playback in General, you'll only get to choose Microsoft DV (NTSC) or (PAL) in the Video sectionl

However, if you choose Video for Windows in the general section, and then go to video, you'll get a whole list of compressors to choose from such as Cinepak, Huffyuv, XVid and so forth.

Except that Premiere Pro will not let you change it in the middle of a project; you can only set it at the beginning.

If by "compressor" you mean "format", then yes.

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... setup.html

Imho best Codec for preview is MJPEG.
