I'm using premiere pro to improve the video quality of my videos but it's too slow to edit with so I edit with Premiere 4.2 and I wanna bring it into pro and make the quality better by using avisynth (you'll probably just say to use pro but I just can't use pro, it's too slow and confusing and has errors all the time and it won't work on the computer I use to edit most of the time.)
I just got the .avs plugin to work, and I know this isn't related to the topic, but I have to ask this as well (instead of making another topic), when I import the .avs files they're green boxy things and everything is messed the first few frames. It seems to be a problem with avisynth, so I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this?
But my main problem is that premiere pro won't open up premiere 4.2 project files and claims they are damaged, even though premiere 4.2 doesn't have a problem with them. I was wondering if there is a way to fix this, a new way to save the files or a plugin or something?
Thank you
Why won't pro load the project?

Why? Just use VirtualDubMod. There's no point in using Premiere for relatively simple tasks like cleanup and conversion.xShifty_Eyesx wrote:I'm using premiere pro to improve the video quality of my videos but it's too slow to edit with so I edit with Premiere 4.2 and I wanna bring it into pro and make the quality better by using avisynth
You wouldn't happen to be using DivX source footage, cutting it on non-keyframes, and then serving it with AVISynth, would you? Because that would definitely do it.xShifty_Eyesx wrote:I just got the .avs plugin to work, and I know this isn't related to the topic, but I have to ask this as well (instead of making another topic), when I import the .avs files they're green boxy things and everything is messed the first few frames. Premiere Pro cannot open project files from any version of Premiere earlier than 6.5. I believe it states this somewhere in the help files. So don't bother trying.xShifty_Eyesx wrote:But my main problem is that premiere pro won't open up premiere 4.2 project files and claims they are damaged, even though premiere 4.2 doesn't have a problem with them. Couldnt you convert 6.0 project files into pro ones?Premiere Pro cannot open project files from any version of Premiere earlier than 6.5. I believe it states this somewhere in the help files. So don't bother trying.
I have a faint memory of converting one of my 6.0 project file into a premiere pro one.
Or maybe im starting to hallucinate.

Okay, thanks. Are you sure there's no plugin for premiere pro to allow it to access old files, it just doesn't seem to make sense to have a cut off at 6.5. I have an old computer so I can't run 7.0 Pro on it (I run it on my laptop and it's really slow), so I use 4.2 cause it's fast and it works for what I need to do. Also I'm still having trouble with the avisynth files. I'm using DGIndex to make the .d2v files, all the files seem to have a problem with the first few frames messed. But I'll think I'll just make the file a few frames before I need it and cut those out. Thanks a lot!!
