Premiere Users...
Okay, so with Vegas being all mean to me, I decided to give Premiere another shot *sighs* I don't know what it is, but I really kind of loathe that program. It seems so clustered up, and so very unnecessarily complicated. Of course it's more powerful than Vegas, but it also takes me more clicks and adjustments to do the same things in Premiere than in Vegas.
Anyway, to get to the point: Which version of Premiere is your personal favorite? I'd preferably like to use one with real-time previews. The whole scrubbing the time-line thing to see your transitions etc.... uh... yeah, whatever
What I did~ like was the little transparency/opacity rubberband in the video tracks, but it seems Premiere Pro discarded that function. I found something similar, but really dont like it as much.

Sorry, but no. Unless you're writing about the newly-named Vegas Movie Studio (formerly Screenblast Movie Studio, formerly VideoFactory), in which case you're correct.Angry Angel wrote:...Of course it's more powerful than Vegas,...
I've used 5.1 and 6.0; didn't care for the user interface. I thought it was easy enough to learn, but everything felt clumsy. But, YMMV. Everybody's different and you can get used to just about anything. If you absolutely have to have the AVS capability, then Premiere will work for you.Angry Angel wrote:Anyway, to get to the point: Which version of Premiere is your personal favorite? ...
(Although I thought I saw a thread 6-8 months ago where someone had managed to make Vegas to frameserve correctly. Can' remember exactly who or when.)

Premiere Pro. 5.1 was nice, but Pro beats it easily.Angry Angel wrote:Anyway, to get to the point: Which version of Premiere is your personal favorite?
Um, they <i>all</i> do real-time previews, at least on parts that contain transitions (and other effects). You often can't get Premiere Pro to preview <b>unaltered</b> footage in realtime (at least, not without a lot of scrubbing beforehand), but I don't consider that a major issue.Angry Angel wrote:I'd preferably like to use one with real-time previews. You can still find that; it merely requires bringing up the right track view option in the timeline ("Show Opacity Handles" I think it is?). However, I don't bother with it anymore, as I find keyframing to be easier and more precise.Angry Angel wrote:What I did~ like was the little transparency/opacity rubberband in the video tracks, but it seems Premiere Pro discarded that function. yeah, vegas has that too. its called the fade to colourenvelope. and ya can set that to work with varios colours, instead of just varios levels of opacityAngry Angel wrote:What I did~ like was the little transparency/opacity rubberband in the video tracks, but it seems Premiere Pro discarded that function. Waaah I never even knew about Composite Lvl and Fade-to-Color envelopes, and I've been using Vegas for like a year now OMG, it's such a great function... I used to always cut videos into segments to adjust the opacity more accurately... ahh, I just tried the envelopes and they help sooo~ much! Thank you thank you *glomps*

im surpised you've had it for so long and didnt know about envelopes. if you ever have a question or problem, the first thing you should do is hit the f1 key when vegas is open and use the manual. second thing you should do is post a thread and wait for me or taran to get online .
with the fade to colour envelope, the band actualy affects every video timeline under the track where its placed (as well as the track where its placed) so if your planing on using it heavily on a single track, you best make that timeline the bottom one, unless you specificaly want it to affect other tracks.
