I think (I might be wrong) that Pinnacle is designed to edit DV AVIs only. Which means you'll have to take all your clips and save them with a DV codec...probably Pinnacle's own codec, which should have came with the program.

I have used Pinnacle Studio 8 in the past and found it worked the best importing .avi's as uncompressed RGB. Studio 8 would just shut down out right if I tried importing anything under the Huffyuv 2.1.1 codec. I never tried the MJPEG codec however. So basicaly I would import my scripts into VirtualDub and create my clips I wanted to use as uncompressed RGB.
Now the funny thing is that you can export out of Pinnacle Studio 8 under different codecs (DV is default). Studio 8 would export under the Huffyuv codec without fail, but I was never able to get it to import using Huffyuv
So if Pinnacle Studio Plus is anything like Studio 8 I would try importing your clips as uncompressed RGB. You may also want to free up some hard drive space.
