Which Software to buy?

Post by WickedOwl » Sat Jan 15, 2005 1:04 am

I'm just getting started in video-making and I was wondering if you guys could recommend a good intermediate video-editing software for me to get. I'm looking to spend less than $300 and would like to get something that's low-cost but still has a lot of features. Thanks for your help.

If your new to editing its best to just start out with windows movie maker and develope editing skills first, rather than spending your time trying to learn how to use mid-high end video editors. Do that later, once you can realy take advantage of the extra functionality.

if you are already going to spend as much as $300, then you might as well go all the way and get vegas or premiere

if not, then just use windows movie maker or even the $100 vegas movie studio

Why? Mediastudio Pro 7 is a plenty powerful video editor for this hobby. The only reason I switched to premiere after I started this hobby was the fact that there wasn't an avisynth plugin for mediastudio pro. Otherwise I would have continued using MSP6.

It's possible to use AVS with Magix. I figured out how to do it.

I really should document that.

eh, just seems to me that if you are already spending that much money - not getting vegas or premiere seems like a crime

Yup. Just be sure to set the colorspace to RGB24.
