Does anyone know how to convert an avi file?
I want to enter an AMV I made into Jacon's AMV contest, but it's an avi file that uses the DivX codec. I've already tried to convert it using TMPEnc, Adobe Premiere, and Aviedit, but none of them worked. Does anyone know how to convert it, or possibly what I'm doing wrong?

If at all possible don't convert the avi to mpeg. You will lose video quality doing that. Instead go back to your project and make a fresh encode to mpeg.
Of course, if you no longer have the project files that isn't going to be possible. What you may want to do in that case is use AVISynch to do the conversion and while you're at it toss in a temperal cleaner to try and limit the quality hit.

Curious, I created a AMV 2 years ago, the project is gone, however I have the original AVI version of the anime and a mpg version my friend did.
the mpg version is HORRIBLE... is it possible I put the avi amv back into premiere, encode it better? sorry, newbie...
