Premiere showing nothing?

Post by Honorable Goat » Wed May 25, 2005 5:47 am

Heya

I'm attempting to use premiere 6.5 at the moment, doesn't seem to be working too well. When ever I import a file for use it will import fine, I can double click on it and view the file fine, but when I select a part of the video to bring into the timeline all I get is just well.. black. The video on the timeline doesn't display and its just like I've imported a giant piece of nothingness :(

Any ideas as I would really like to find a way around this if possible.

What codecs do the files use? If it's an MPEG-4 codec like DivX or XviD, you'll want to convert it to something else (preferably lossless, like HuffYUV or Lagarith). That, or serve them with AVISynth.

I beleive they might be xvid. I thought premiere worked well with mpeg4 codecs such as that?

Ah well, cool as I'll try converting them to something else. I'm fairly new to using plugins etc, whats AVI synth? Sounds like something that would go with Vdub.. or am I completely wrong?

Hiya,

Were you able to solve your problem?
I"m having the same trouble importing XVID into Priemere Pro 1.5, the whole sequence is all plain black with some noise, I too thought priemere should work well with mpeg4 codecs... :(
