What Video editing sofwares should I use?

I'm just new here and I've already seena lot of cool AMVs, I wanted to make my own AMVs but I don't know what video editing software I should use... Can Anybody help tell what video editors you guys use to make cool effects.

I've seen the full list of the Video editors, but I'm no where near any answers...

Before I spend my money on buying a software CD, I would want to know which of the listed video editors is the best.
Because I would be importing clips from various video formats like Xvid, OGM, MKV, Avi, Mpeg and Dat files from VCD. Which software would successfully import if not all, some of the file formats I mentioned???

Any suggestions???

Have you tried out the various programs' trial versions (for those that offer them)?

Definitely not a good idea in almost any video editor (see my sig for ways to get around this). I italicized "AVI" because just that doesn't tell us much; are they DivX/XviD, MJPEG, uncompressed, HuffYUV, or what?

Your best bet is to <a href="/guides/avtech/videogetb.html">rip your footage from DVDs</a>.

WEll, Any Avi file will do but...

I think I don't have the luxury of ripping from a DVD, because all my anime collections are in VCD format (they don't sell DVDs in where I live...

)

Actualy, they woent. Divx and other loosy codecs are a bitch to edit with in most editors. Edit with a lossy codec such as huffyuv or if you have to edit lossy, go through avisynth.

I USE IT FOR AMV AND EVEN MY SISTER WHO BOUGHT [b]ADOBE PREMIERE 6.5[/b]

STILL USE IT [i][b]MAGIX MOVIE EDIT PRO 2004[/b][/i] AND YOU WILL SAVE LOT OF CASH.

I BOUGHT MY AT BEST FOR ABOUT $35 AND IT AWESOME.

Actually, Mushkin was telling Super F that he/she(?) lives in Florida in relation to another thread, I think, for some reason not related to the thread. No idea where b_tuvs actually is since they didn't say in the post or on their profile.

One thing you may not have considered is that if you're a student you can probably go to your school and ask them how you can get a "Student" version of Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 (or maybe other Premieres), which costs several hundred dollars less than retail but is exactly the same in functionality.
