Problems With the AMVapp Tutorial

Post by blobdole » Sun Aug 07, 2005 1:28 pm

So I have recently installed AMVapp and started through A&E's Technical Guides to All Things Audio and Video mk 2. Sadly, I run into a show stopping issue right near the start.

I install everything per the guide and all of the tests work fine. I work through the AVIsynth steps and end up with some nice colorbars. Then I get to the mpg video.

DirectShowSource("C:\Videos\Believe.mpg")
BicubicResize(320,240)

This will load for several seconds then open a black screen of the correct size and length that does not play; it just sits at 0. It says "Playing" but it is not. Not only that, closing the media player leaves a mplayer2.exe sitting in my processes section of Windows Task Manager. Any help would be much appreciated.

Windows XP SP2
AMD Athlon 64
AMVapp version 2.1
WMP 10.00.00.3646

do you actually have the file Believe.mpg by Kevin Caldwell? if not, that's going to happen.

If you don't happen to have a video file titled "Believe.mpg" in the directory "Videos" in your C drive, then you will not get anything because it's trying to open a file that isn't there.

I have it and the path is correct =)

The file opens fine if I double click on it. (WMP 10)

=( So I don't suppose someone has come up with a solution to my little problem? I hope it isn't my install of XP, hate to need to re-format.

Is this in Media Player? AviSynth stopped working for me in Media Player after I un-installed AviSynth and installed AMVApp. Try opening the .avs file in VirtualDub.

Ok! Progress! It opens in virtual dub! (after the second try, weird)

Now I am going to go over the virtual dub tutorials to make sure it is all working correctly. I will post an update as soon as I know anything =)

(Maybe it doesn't like my WMP install?)
