How do I eliminate interlacing effects?

Post by Earl6282 » Sun Aug 07, 2005 7:34 pm

I'm sure it's easy as hell on a PC, but I'm using a Mac here, so I suppose it'd be different. I'm using DiVA to convert the .VOB files to other files that iMovie can read, if that helps. But I can't seem to find a way around the interlacing effects that ruin everything. Can anybody give me solid, specific, step-by-step instructions on how to avoid them or get rid of them without screwing up image quality? Thanks.

With DiVA it is really not that hard to deinterlace your footage. You have DiVA open, and you have you footage selected. So you click on "Image & Credits..." This will bring up a new window, and there should be a check box that says "Deinterlace." Click that box and DiVA will deinterlace your footage.

There is also MPEG Streamclip that I have mentioned in your topic about Clip Creator. With this when you go to export your clip you have a box that says "Deinterlace Video," and that will do it for you too.

You have a third option too. JES Deinterlacer. I have never used this program, but it is free. If you try JES Deinterlacer could you tell me if it is good or not.
