Movie Maker, what an I doing wrong?

Post by Koldun » Sun Oct 16, 2005 11:38 am

Movie Maker's a video software, right?
Anyway, every time I try and drag a clip to the timeline, the damn thing comes up with the classic "Do not den Error" and "Send Error" message box.
I don't know what's wrong; the files I'm trying to import are avi and mp3, which are said to be types supported by Movie Maker.

Gah! What's gone wrong, can someone tell me?

MP3s may be supported, but they're still not recommended. Try decoding to PCM .WAV and using those instead.

Also, depending on what kind of AVIs you have, my large obnoxious sigbar may be appropriate (click link for more).

Oh yeah. Just read from another thread it might have to do with downloading codecs.
I recently downloaded an MKV codec, would that have anything to do with it?

Google for 'graphedit.exe' , download it, start it with a double click and then do a 'file' 'render media' on the file you plan to convert. Make a screenshot of the playback graph of the file in Graphedit, and post it here for us to look at.

It should be easy to tell you then, what other installed filters will cause the conflict.

I was having this happen two nights ago. As soon as I switched from an MP3 to a WMA it didn't happen again.

click the + button by your video layer. the clips in the video track is the video clips and the clips in your audio track is the audio clips.
