Need help making an AMV.
I do not have the orginal DVD anymore, so what program should I use to, well pretty much, make the AMV movie portion. I already have serperate software to work on the songs. Yes, I am a noob at this, but I have read tutorials, and have surfed the web, and I have yet to find a tutorial that says to use this, and that you can get it from here. I just want to know if there is an free download, open-source if possible, to use. Please help, and thank you.

yeah, like explain what you have... and then what you need... then we can help you...
I got you don't have the original DVD anymore, if that means your looking for anime downloads, this is definitely not the place. but if you're looking for programs, Try this

Ok then.
I use WinDVD creator when working with video, which is rare becuase I mostly work with programing. Now, I have the entire series of Chobits, the first Anime I actually watched, on my external harddrive. The files are made to open in BS Player, which is like Windows media player, but in my opion, better when playing video. Now, WinDVD does not recognize the Chobits files as a file it can work with, so I would like to know what is a program that I can use to extract the clips of video I want for my AMV (which just happens to use the very first music I ever liked, being I did not start to listen to music till I was 13.
I nomally find that Open-Source programs cause the least problems, but if you use a program that does not cost (I really don't want to have to buy more software) but don't know if it is open source or not, it really does not matter. I just need something to rip the movie clips I need. And I can run pretty much any program out there (3.0gH processor, 1Gig RAM, 240GB Harddrive).
I hope this clears things up a bit.

The list of programs seem to be exactly what I have spent a few hours looking for, thanks.

VirtualDubMod has built-in support for AVI, VOB, MPG (with any of the weird extensions they might have), MKV, OGM, and AVS (which is an AVISynth script, used to clean the video files on the fly). It's free and open source. You can use this to get the clips, and then use whatever editor you might want to use. It's also useful in the post-production stage, as the main purpose of VirtualDub in the first place is video prep.
