Good free editers that don't use alot of memory

Post by Storm_Princess » Sat Jan 28, 2006 8:54 pm

This has probaly been asked before but....I'm trying to make my first AMV, downloaded everything, Have the footage I want....But everytime I use Windows movie maker the program crashes. I tried like about 8 times to add music in that thing and every time I try....it crashes! So....I want to know if there are any good free editers out there. I looked in the thread and saw some free ones but I don't know which one to pick.....

Also....I think FFDshow some how taken over my memory due to the fact that I just had about 5 icons pop up on the task bar  ......what would cause this?

If you have AMVapp installed, go to your add/remove programs list and remove ONLY FFDShow. I'm not sure why, but I have a lot of compatibility issues with that and WMM. Or, uninstall all of AMVapp and make sure to uncheck that one codec/whatever it is during the reinstall. I've never had WMM crash except with that one on my system.

What formats/codecs? You really should be using PCM (uncompressed) WAVs, or uncompressed AIFFs, and not MP3s.

I would suggest disabling ffdshow's support for all codecs that you already have. I've never had the ffdshow-icons-in-systray problem, but that's probably because I'm using a somewhat older build (2004/10/12, to be specific).
