Premiere Pro 1.5 no longer reads AVS files - Please Help
Whenever I try and open an AVS file now, all I get is this error message: "File Import Failure - the file appears to have no media data."
The problem started when I tried upgrading my Premiere Pro 1.5 to 2.0 yesterday. I installed it into its own directory leaving 1.5 seemingly untouched but when I tried to open an AVS file in 1.5 it gave me the error message even though I've never had a problem with the files before. To try and remedy the problem I uninstalled Premiere Pro 2.0 and 1.5 still gave me the same error message whenever I tried to open an AVS file. I did a whole system restore to the point before I installed Premiere 2.0 and the problem still persisted.
Then, with Premiere Pro 2.0 now out of the computer, I tried reinstalling the Premiere Pro AVS plugin but with no success. I tried reinstalling Premiere Pro 1.5 and again reinstalling the plugin but again with no success.
I'm seriously stumped and frustrated because I'm in the middle of two vidding projects whose timelines are now rendered worthless because Premiere doesn't recognize any of the AVS files that I'd been editing with.
The only other reason for the issue I can think of is for me to upgrade to Premiere Pro 2.0 I had to upgrade my windows xp to SP2 but I can't imagine that being a factor in the problem.
Anybody have any ideas on how I can remedy this? The AVS files themselves are working fine independently of Premiere. Any help will be EXTREMELY appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

And you've got <a href="http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... 36419">the newest version of the plugin</a>?

Yeah, that's the one that I've been using and that I've tried reinstalling with zero luck.Scintilla wrote:And you've got <a href="http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... 36419">the newest version of the plugin</a>?

The plug-in is in the right directory and everything is where it should be, just like it was before I had the problem. I know that the plugin is working because when you import a file, the Adobe explorer window shows the avs files as a supported type of file (otherwise they wouldn't show up at all like they didn't when I tried using Premiere Pro 2). So I am actually able to select them but when I do I get this message:Pwolf wrote:make sure the plugin is actually in the plugin folder... should be in:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Premiere Pro 1.5\Plug-ins\en_US
name is "IM-Avisynth.prm"
if it's not there goto the amvapp directory:
C:\Program Files\AMVapp\Installed Files
and copy the plugin to the premiere plugin folder above.

Thanks for the suggestion but still no luck. The scripts themselves are fine because they all worked before I did the software upgrade and now they just don't register with Premiere anymore.Scintilla wrote:This probably won't fix it, but it's worth a try: slap a <b>ConvertToRGB32()</b> on the end of one of your scripts and see if that helps.

the plugin works fine for all current versions of pro or atleast for me it does (i only used it with the trial version of pro 2 though)...Kalium wrote:I'm going to guess that the API changed, and the plugin needs to be updated.
did you try deleting the plugin in the pluginfolder and then copying the other one (int he amv app folder)back to it? might be currupted... when you uninstall premiere, the plugin doesn't get erased so if the plugin is currupted then that could be a reason why uninstalling and reinstalling wasn't working.

Yeah, I deleted the plugin completely from the directory and did a fresh install of it. I also tried just copying and pasting the files from the amv directory and still couldn't make it work. I'm seriously stumped here.Pwolf wrote:the plugin works fine for all current versions of pro or atleast for me it does (i only used it with the trial version of pro 2 though)...Kalium wrote:I'm going to guess that the API changed, and the plugin needs to be updated.
