Post by voldemort_is_my_bf » Mon Jun 12, 2006 10:08 pm

Okies, I have open the "working with dvds" program, and I'm only on the fifth page and I'm thinking "God, there must be an easier way!!!" Well, IS there? I don't undertsand how to use this DVD2avi thing! Plus, it's all just long and confuzzling. So please, is this the ONLY way?
and then the guacamole EXPLODED!

There are 2 other ways I can think of, but neither one I recommend.

If your editing programs supports editing from the .VOB files directly, you could try that method after ripping the DVDs to your HDD. Don't expect it to work flawlessly or to give you great precision. (As a side note, if your program won't open .VOB files but is able to use MPEG-2 files you can rename the .VOB to .MPG and try to use them that way.)

The other option I won't go into because there are more drawbacks involved and it is about as messy. All I will say is it involves XviD/DivX. :(

there is a version virtual dub that can open vob files. I use that sometimes and skip the whole dvd2avi step. :P

Since I'm just doing this for fun and to lazy to do things right , I use flaskmpeg to convert the files to useable files, or the pieces I want. You can get it here, http://go.to/flaskmpeg It is pretty easy to use.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?
