Need help ASAP!

Post by Death_Eater » Thu Jun 22, 2006 6:48 pm

Ok I made my AMV with WMM, and Im entering it into a contest but ,they need to be a certain format. So I used TMPEGnc to change the format and code it but now it is split into two files one audio the other video. What did I do wrong and what can I do to fix it? Pleas help me ASAP cause I must enter it within the next few days.

you could always use virtual dub to try and rejoin the audio and video streams

On the main tmpgenc screen you selected an option to encode the audio and video as seperate files. I don't have it so i cant tell you exactly what it is, but its a drop down box, i think to the right of the location where you specify the output file.

As far as I know, only DVD authoring programs will mux (multiplex) a .m2v and .wav file togther. If you select TMPGEnc to encode a .m2v file and .wav file, it will always create separate files. TMPGEnc (and other MPEG2 encoders) can only mux .m2v video files with .mp2/.mpa audio files. Unfortunately, DVD authoring programs create .vob files and not .mpg files. Although it isn't standard, you can rename the .vob to .mpg.

What format is the convention asking for?

I use QuEnc for mpeg encoding...
Just gotta write a simple .avs script and open it in QuEnc.

You have 3 (well, 4) options:

1. Take the files you already have and make a DVD out of them. You will need some DVD authoring program like TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0 (trial version is good for 14 days) or MuxMan.

2. Applicable ONLY if the convention accepts MP2 audio - Re-encode the video with TMPGEnc. Make sure that if you are using the wizard, on the first page select CBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (MP2) instead of CBR Linear PCM Audio which, iirc, is the default. This will create a single MPG file.

3a + b. Applicable ONLY if the convention accepts MP2 audio - (a) Re-encode just the audio as CBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (MP2) in TMPGEnc, or (b) encode the WAV as a MP2 format file using BeSweet. Then mux the files together into a MPG file using TMPGEnc again.

Option 1 shouldn't be too hard to figure out, although MuxMan doesn't have a burning function so you'll need something like Nero for that.

Option 2 is the same as how you originally encoded except for the change in the audio settings.

Option 3a directions: Start TMPGEnc up and cancel the wizard. Click the Load button on the right bottom corner. Open the DVD (NTSC).mcf template. Add your Video source to the appropriate section (this should be your original video). Above the lower buttons, in the Stream type box select ES (Audio only). The status bar on the bottom should now say DVD NTSC (Layer-2 48000Hz 384kbps). Click Start and after it is done, click File > MPEG Tools... in the menu. Now you want to do a Simple Multiplex. Add your appropriate M2V and MP2 files and choose a target file, then click Run. (Looking back, unless your machine is dead-slow, it might be faster to do the full re-encode. :| )

Option 3b directions: Start BeSweet GUI. Select BeSweet in the right hand section. In the Locations box, add your Input audio file. Now, under the BeSweet Profiles box, there should be a drop down menu highlighted in yellow. Click on the arrow and select MP2 (the box header should change to tooLame). Now click the green WAV to MP2 button. Finally, follow Option 3a's portion about muxing the M2V and MP2 files togther.
