Before this thread gets locked, I would just like to get back on topic and put my two cents in. I have been a member of the org for almost a year, faithfully making AMV's, seeking help in the appropriate forums, whoring my latest vid out on the opinions forum, helping and being helped in video and general, and oping for people and writing in ym journal.

But I saw the GOT and WOT and saw that was a place I could truley be myself. I refuse to go to other forums, because in addition to this forum, I post in another one concerning mmorpgs, one concerning VB, admining my own (though small) and working on numerous projects. Adding yet another fourm to go to is out of the question. I liked having the convieneance of being at once serious and silly in the same forum.

But you Phade have taken that away. Sure you had your reasons, and yes to the rest of you, I read ALL 19 pages of this, but I still think it is unfair. Why make a "General Off Topic" AND a "Way Off Topic" if you don't wan't people making useless posts? I may have only been here for a year at most, and on the forums for less than a month or two, but I put my time here to good use, and I think it is sad that you have to take such drastic measures that hurt everyone when you could easily solve this problem by punishing those who where instigators.

I agree with Flint, and everyone else who wants them back. GOT & WOT was where I spent my time in between renders and brainfarts. I also agree that with out an off topic section, spam will leak into other parts of the forum. You may say that this is not true, but out of the thousands of posts I have seen, do you know how many the mods have locked/warned/banned? about 4, maybe 5 tops. and always the same mod. Now that must tell you something.

It is not the fault of the 100,000 plus users that there is only you and a single mod to deal with this forum, which proly takes up more space than most games, it is the fact that there is not enough enforcemnt of the rules.

And some of those that are supporting you have been more disrespectful to everyone in this thread than any spammer or necroposter I have seen in the OT's. Are these really the type of people that you want exclusivly on your Forums? Those that bash newbs, only talk about AMV's, have no life outside there own little worlds? I used to come here for my daily splash of entertainment, commradire (sp?), and general mayhem, but now all this is gone and I have no place left to go.

I suppose I shall stay behind and post a few times in the opionions section, until that gets taken down because people beg, and then I will move to General anime, but that will already be down because of spammers, along with genral music.... Then I suppose Video help won't hurt me, until I realize that that too has been taken down because the newbies keep asking about things found in the guides. And then After a while I will hit the index page, and to my dismay I see that all the forums have been locked for one reason or another, all because of a few simple mistakes, by more people than just you. many more, on both sides of the arguement.

Needless to say, I have witnessed the dusk of a golden era, I may never see th sunrise again...

Damnit... I meant to put "At First" in front of donations <_<... What? How would him taking donations be generous...

<_< >_> My bit with the donations is I donated kinda to the whole site and now a chunk that I enjoyed is being actively removed. So it's kinda blah.

But after thinking about it, there is yes alot that goes on what with the MV database and all. And even with donations it's not like he's making $$$ and the GD servers don't mantain themselves...

But still... EVEN IF I DID ONLY DONATE $10 >_< it still sucks that it does allow me to have any say into exactly what goes on with the site... And that such a huge change can take place without anyone really having a vote on it. Since I don't think it's exactly all Phade's site. Phade would be nothing with out the people to put the shit in the DB. The GD wouldn't be here if it wasn't for people actually getting off their duff and donating.

It's kinda irritating for one hand to decide what's good for the other hand with out talking to the other hand first...

i wasent going to make a long post about all this, but meh, im board.

i dont care about any of the OT sections. im glad they are gone. i told Klinky in a convo not long after his last post, (or some time around 12:30 AM last night ><) that "its REALLY hard to confuse "animemusicvideos.org" as a place to go and post about how ghay michle jackson is....but it happens anyway"

and thats what all this boiles down to, this is NOT an off topic web site, this is an anime music video web site. you come to "animemusicvideos.org" to talk, find help about, and now, download AMVs. not spam the forums. places like cgtalk's forums http://www.cgtalk.com/ dont have an off topic section......why? you go to http://www.cgtalk.com/ to talk/learn/discuss 3D Art...not what anime chick you think is hotter in bed.

there are forums that you CAN go and do that at, DeamonSeal and SWP to name a few. if you just want to shoot-the-shit with some people about what ever happens to come up, go to forums that are ment for that. this one is not ment for that, and never should have been.

Knowing my comments mean exactly "Dick" here I might as well say what I wanna say before I stop visiting this... THING.

I never joined the org for the fact it had forums, infact as one person put it, I didnt even know we had forums here when I signed up not so long ago.

I signed up cause some guy I didnt know had givin' us free space for us to put our little Niche hobby onto.

Now I've been here a little while, I've seen a ton of shit happen in the forums, nothin' really life affecting.

And while I can't see why phade can't find more mod's or something, it really doesnt bother me all that much, because lets face it,

As many cool, nice, awesome people as there are in there, there's also a boat load of spammers, jerkoff's, and all around boneheads.

So I can respect phade's honest opinion and therefore leading desistion,

Afterall even though we all pay donations to keep this place running, it was phade who made the sacrifice of his time, alot of money to get it started, and to have to deal with alot of crap in the process.

I respect him for doing what he did, even though in some ways I don't understand it, I ultimately get it.

Nothing alot of people didnt say, but they're my words...

yeah, they were stupid conversations. yeah, there was stupid small talk too. but how can you say that these people were 'stupid' themselves? i could say "i left because they were having fun, and just because i had other things to do", but that would be a damned lie. i came here all the time to read private messages from the woman i love when we couldn't talk in any other way. and yet these people.. oh, the scum of the underworld! how they pick at me with their fleshy hands!

and oh no! i met her in this very forum, on that very locked board, in the very same way those people were talking to their stupid friends!

you know, if you don't like the topic, don't read it. if you're a moderator, then it's your god damned job to read it, whether it's stupid or not. so what if you don't like the majority of topics made in off topic: the name of the forum section alone should clue you in to the kinds of people hanging out there. if you don't like the people, don't listen to them. if you're not going to say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

but awwww, those poor moderators! the ones who can't bare to show their faces have decided to lessen their workload because they had to do too much of the job they signed up for! poor babies!

and yet you took the ability to moderate this forum because you wanted to impress someone, didn't you? you guys just wanted to hang out and say "yeah, i'm a mod and no one knows it. i'm so fucking cool". but now that everyone you were trying to impress has left and those small, evil evil stupid evil mean people with their oh-so-tiny brains have replaced them, you don't feel like doing anything because you don't want to have anything to do with them.

off topic was made so that people could atleast have the chance of becoming friendly. you could make all manners of bonds in all kinds of ways. i met some truely awesome people here, but how can i deny other people this; no matter how 'stupid' they really are.

it's not about stupidity. it's not about how many videos you made. it's not about jumping into this sea of people, hoping not to hurt anyone's appendages.

it's about having fun.

me? i could honestly care less. it's someone else's site, they do as they want. i can go have fun somewhere else.

i just feel like someone shot a wrecking ball at the part of me that ever gave a damn about this internet stuff. if the only thing to be on here for is another anime music video, or help related in that subject matter, then expect a lot less videos.

i'm not as selfish as to think that people who'd rather read my name and judge based on that whether or not i have anything good to say would spend a minute (let alone an hour) to download whatever ridiculously large amount of bullshit i made. i'm not out to impress complete strangers, either.

but that was the point of locking the off topic section, wasn't it? too many people making videos for your precious server. so much donated money and you can't afford to let people have fun?

that's really the main difference between you people. sure, on the outside it seems like some want to learn more about amvs while others want to derail from the topic entirely. and yet, it's those same people who go to conventions dragging their hands and wondering what the hell made them so confused as to pretend to believe that they ever wanted to know some stupid people on the internet. the winners of the amv competitions go home overjoyed, confident that the others had as much fun as their winning little premiere-faces did. the losers go home completely drained, knowing that no one gave a damn about their work and no one ever will. the judges sit there. but who had fun?

not a one of them; there wasn't anyone to have fun with. you spend so much time in front of the monitor staring at encoding options and you lose a part of your personality while gaining a piece of brain. welcome to the new age of anime music videos, you magnificant zombies. take someone's leg, someone else's heart and use them for yourself. that's all the website is for, anyway. the upside is that you can leave whenever you want to. not like anyone's going to miss your saggy, stitch-covered ass.

The Off Topic was the home for people who might've liked anime, but weren't stupid assholes and/or dipshit otaku.

The people in General Anime usually talked about stupid shit and rarely had decent conversations with anyone they didn't already know.

Unless a newbie was willing to become a bland, stupid, "omg Trigun/Evangelion/DBZ/randomfuckinganimenoonehaseverheardof sucks/is awsome" person, then no one would give a fuck what the person had to say about anything.

Not so in the Off Topic. There, anyone with an attitude and a sassy avatar could become the talk of the town.
Some were arrogant assholes *cough CatAClYsm and Priuscomet cough* and some were the coolest people anyone could ever hope to know (like NME, Mr. Oni, Kamoc, Fyrtenheimer, HungryCrackpot, Roke, and a list of people it would take too long to type).

I now am a little sad to see the Off Topic go, even though I have not posted on this forum for months, and sort of planned to never post here again. I remembered the great people I met, and already miss them.

I never used to have any beef with Phade until he really started being a Nazi with all the restrictions and shit he started doing to the Off Topic. He has no sense of humor and does not realize that a no-nonsense attitude is insulting and unnecessary with rational human beings.

Maybe instead of eliminating the Off Topic Forum, it could just not be moderated unless someone really complains.

It's an internet forum, not the U.N. You don't have to care too much about what goes on there, and you certainly don't have to care what they talk about, be it anime, music, videos, or their new picture of Eddie Murphy getting yelled at by George Michael.

Personally, I think it's both a great and a really bad idea. I agree with others that the useless spam will leak into the other sections, but at the same time it deprives new members from going "OMFGIR1337Z0R, PH34R M3" Although now I won't be able to see the GFX cons in their proper place now, it saddens me (I just logged on BTW) and although it does cause more time to edit AMVs, it also kills the 100,000 members or so that post in there, and now, for instance, in General AMV, we're gonna see posts like "I am n00b, hear me RAWR" and "Hi, I'm new and I've never made an AMV before but would like to know, can anyone help me" or replace the last part with "how do I upload/download" and "please look at my videos cause I think they're good".

I still disagree with this movement for the most part because of the spam and n00b posts... And yes, elitism has taken over some people, and because of that, they make others feel bad and take pride in their wrongdoings...

The only way I can agree with it is that it kills the majority of the spam, but at the same time kills the only place where we can post nonsense like "I just got a new computer and it ownz!" and stuff like that, although i guess that could go in hardware help |:

No more promos, no more life stories, no more spam, I dunno what to think...

Let me just give my two cents...Phade is an idiot. No, really. See I've got this theory...I don't think there ARE any mods, I really don't. I think it's all just lil 'ol Phade sitting at his computer and keeping up with it all has just become too much for him. Either that OR, he's having database and/or bandwidth/space problems. Many people may not realize this, but pure text in a message board can take up TONS of space and even more bandwidth. However this problem is easily dealt with, simply lock threads down after 2 weeks of inactivity, that'll solve necroposting problems. Or, even better, DELETE the old garbage, at least in OT. In other words keep OT around, but make it so that threads with 2 weeks of inactivity simply get removed entirely.

The point I'm trying to make here is that if Phade WANTED he could in fact keep the OT groups, it'd require a bit of effort and work, but it could be easily done. And in fact he could very easily enlist any number of people here to help him with it...but like I said, I've got this theory, I don't think there ARE any mods, I don't think he actually actively tries to enlist the help of anybody.

Further, getting rid of the OT groups is NOT gonna reduce the amount of traffic here, Phade is just kidding himself on that one. Not to mention creating more work for himself cause he's gonna wind up havin to play netcop 10 times as much as normal. Also, and this is sorta interesting, someone pointed out that most of the off-topic contributors don't make good videos...and I just gotta say, whoever said that was just smokin funny crack. Did ANY of you actually take the bother to go and look up some of the names of people posting in this thread and check out their work? Cause uh...yeah. o_O

Now don't anybody get me wrong, if Phade wants to take down the groups, hey, that's his choice, I'm merely pointing out the sheer utter fucking stupidity behind it. *shrugs*

Forgot something, and this is another reason why Phade is an idiot...or rather a paranoid freako. Talking about warez, pirating, etc and even telling people how and where to get it is NOT illgal in any way. Cause uh, if it was, boy howdy CNN and Faux News would be the biggest proliferators of that crime. Remember when CNN and Faux told the entire world, every last suburban cracker white bread American how they could log on and download something called Napster and get all the free music they wanted? Yeah...I'm just sayin.

...not to mention the fact that the MPAA and the IRAA wouldn't fucking DARE touch this community as long as I'm an active remember...unless of course they like the idea of having me suddenly go on the offensive. Cause really, how hard do you think it'd be for me to have the DMCA ripped to fucking pieces? He, he, he...they can get away with that shit with their made up lawsuits with computer illiterate housewives, 11 year olds and 85 year old grandma's, but you may noticed that they don't EVER try and bring law suits against people like me. `, )

This is exactly why the OT is locked..crap like this. I've read over the whole what..now 30-31 pages..and exactly for the reasons some have stated..to get a laugh at how stupid some people can be. It's a forum for gods sake! There are others! And Yes! You're life will continue without the OT! *gasp* I know its hard to belive..but it will!

As far as the site drying up from lack of donations..I doubt seriously that'll happen..since most of the people who donate are not the ones who are so "affected" by this to the point that most of you seem to be.

Oh, I'm sure Phade was just waiting for the chance to wound you all so much with this evil deed..

Please..don't flatter yourselves so much. Phade does what he thinks is for the good of the site..Phade tried to give you guys a place to just hang out..whatever..and you took it and used it and abused it.
In fact..the way it looks to me..it's like someone gave alot of you guys a gift and you've more or less thrown it back in said persons face..why? because it wasn't good enough..because it wasn't what you wanted..when you'd be alot better off to happy to have what we have here!

Oh..and the whole "elite" thing was brought up agian I see....but now I see why it came to be in the first place...it was because when someone said something that made sense..it pissed people off to be shown that they were wrong...therefore the person that proved them wrong became "elite" ....it was easier to point a finger and say that then admit you were wrong about something...

I think it's really sad to see something like this on here..and honestly..towards the end..I saw the OT and other forums like GAMV start to look like the Mason-Dixion line of the org...North and South..with people who actually wanted to help others..and be a part of the communtiy..and then with others who only came here to be stupid..to be rude to other people (and while you might think I mean JBone..I don't..yes..he's harsh..but what he says is true) ..ect. ..and figured that something like this would eventually happen.
So you might as well stop your bitching..your ranting..your whineing and deal with the fact that the OT forum will not be coming back..especially after this little display of a hissy fit alot of you guys decided to show..
