Hey All,
The rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated.
Yes, yes. It’s been over a week since the end of Anime Detour and I’m just now getting around to the con report? Busy, busy, busy and nonstop busy since the moment I got back. In fact, I just last night unpacked from the trip so that I could do laundry!
I was going to write up the report on the flight home to get it over with, but the plane was so small that I did have room to flip it open. Oh well. That will teach me to check the aircraft type before booking the flight!
Anywho... Anime Detour was (yet again) even more impressive than the last time around. It’s kinda like AMVs: you think it can’t get any better than last year, but it does! If you missed it, you really missed something good!!
Everyone I met there was great. The fans, the con staff, the con guests, random people in restaurants. It seemed like everyone was having a great time all the time. An amazing thing happened at the Friday night dance: no odor! I guess all that “dude, take a bath!” talk at opening ceremonies really sank in this year.
One of the unique cool things this year at the con was the charity auction. I really hadn’t planned on it, but I figured I would donate one of the spare external hard drives that I brought along with 3000 AMVs on it (it came in really handy for the “Audience Request” panel). The drive was an older drive I had that I happened to stuff full of vids and bring as a backup for the main video rig. The drive turned out to be the highest grossing item at the auction. Hooray for AMV fans!!
Everyone at the panels asked about the panel setlists. Unfortunatly, I forgot to save them all. But I did save the big three (besides the 2006 VCA winners which are easily listed in the VCA section).

For the Cosplay Halftime show, I had to improvise the ending since they needed more time to finish going through the ballots, so I don’t have all of those that I played.
Well, it’s late and my busy-ness is still wearing on me. Thanks again to Anime Detour and everyone I met there. You all are great!!

That kinda makes me wish I had gone (just so that I could see the reaction), I was like, 20 minutes away, but I wasn't going to spend my 21st birthday at a con, damnit! Also, I wasn't aware it was going to be shown. I attempted to submit Gang Rape to the WTF contest , but I didn't get any replies concerning it.

Re: Anime Detour Report
Hey aielI_Ileia,
Here's what it was like: Imagine yourself in a big, dark room. All the chairs are taken and people are mashing themselves against the wall just to be in the room. The video comes up and the audience has a good mixture of "Ooooooo!" and "Whoo hoo!" and claps. During the video, people laugh and gasp and laugh some more. At the end, a roaring cheer and applause and audible "That was awesome!"s can easily be heard in near unison.
I hope that helps. ^_^

First five seconds of sound
"woooooo!"
Phade proclaims it's only a sound check, first few seconds play again
"Whooooo!"
Still a sound check. Then finally, the vid shows and a roaring applauded starts, the two eds pitched in a lot of the enthusiasm. It was all quite amusing
