I wanna post my banner!

Hello My name is tresher_morales... and I have a problem.

Ok enough formalities. The thing is that Once I get finally Inspired to get my banner making on, no matter what i do The darn image saved from photoshop won't save under 30kb even if going to the extreme of making it a o quality jpeg. What can I do to get it to 20kb and still be eligable for entering the contest ad?

Well, when I save .jpg files from photoshop, I choose Progressive and Scans: 5 in the Format Options area and than start from quality 12 and decrease by one until it gets below the maximum weight I want it to be (in the case of the org ads 20kb). In case that's not enough, I try with the .gif extension, sometimes can do a good job without loosing too much quality.

Are you just using the normal save as to save it as a .jpeg, or 'save for web'? If you use 'Save for web', you can get a lot more quality for a smaller filesize.

I was using Jpeg but thankx 2 u guys, and some experimenting, I now know about the more scans for less size but good quality, and the save in gif for web, which is what I closely ended up doing.

Finally My banners are up and sent and am working on more.

1 question though... When will d new logo be picked?

AFAIK, the site's log is changed around April/May.

Well, you can still use jpeg with the 'save for web' option and still get decent results (that's what I usually do), but I'm glad you figured it out. I wish you luck. *^_^*

As far as the logo goes, the logo contest will probably be starting up sometime in the next couple months. (they used to have it more around January or February, but was probably a bit much for the mods to try and juggle with VCAs going on too.) So as mirkosp said, the logo will probably be chosen and ready for banners in May or June or so.
