I am new to this and am not sure what everything means. Can anyone tell me what "hits" are? I know this must sound extremely stupid. Sorry about that. Thanks.

In reference to your video info page?
hits is just that... how many times anyone has gone to (or hit) your video page... just like a visitor counter on a website

thank you so much. I wasn't sure if that is what it meant. And the number next to downloads means how many times your video has been downloaded, right?

No how many times a person visits your video page, not how many times its downloaded

Erm.
Hits are the number of times the page has been visited. The number beside the download is the number of times it was downloaded.
